A new election tracker poll shows Bernie Sanders with an incredible 15 point lead with college students, compared to all other democrats running for President.
The Vermont senator has always been popular with young people but it seems his presidential run has strengthened with Donald Trump in the White House. The poll makes it clear that college students, choose Bernie Sanders as the person they would like to see representing them in the White house.
One of the most ironic things about this poll, is that Sanders spent much of the 1960’s and 70’s on college campuses protesting against injustice. He was a part of the civil rights movement, the women’s movement and even fought for union workers.
Fighting against injustice
It is clear that Bernie Sanders has spent most of his life fighting for those who do not have a voice; this is something that rings true with college students. College age people are often the most adamant against injustices.
Chegg election tracker survey of Democratic Party-leaning undergraduates across the U.S. saw Sanders finish out of the year with an almost 40 percent support, this is an unbelievable number for a Presidential candidate.
The Trump Presidency has caused many people to take a closer look at issues of injustice.
Issues like immigration, DACA, racism and billionaire influences in politics has caused an increase in political awareness; this has been good for the Bernie Sanders campaign.
College Students often get it right, they see injustice and they don’t like it, frankly it should come as no surprise Bernie Sanders has the firm support of college students
